I know that if you have to move a heavy object, such as a fridge or washing machine across a newly laid vinyl floor you should smear some washing-up-liquid on the floor infront of the feet and it helps it to glide easily into place.

That’s really useful. I’ve never done that before
Me neither but we’ve just had cushion vinyl fitted in the kitchen, the fitters carried the freezer back to the right place for me and put the washing machine almost there so that I could just slide it in once I’d plumbed it back in again … then told me about the washing-up-liquid trick.
It worked like a dream.
